Position Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled and experienced Survey Party Chief to lead and manage offshore survey operations across diverse marine and geophysical projects. This role combines technical oversight, team leadership, and a strong commitment to HSEQ compliance. The successful candidate will bring extensive offshore survey experience and demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, project procedures, and QHSE standards, including active participation in HIRAs, toolbox talks, and risk mitigation planning.
Lead and supervise multidisciplinary survey teams during offshore operations.
Oversee mobilisation and demobilisation processes, ensuring all survey equipment is properly tested, operational, and compliant.
Ensure survey data is acquired, quality-checked, and processed in line with project specifications and industry best practices.
Liaise with client representatives, vessel masters, and onshore teams to maintain effective ship-to-shore communications.
Support project planning and technical preparation, including occasional office-based or remote support as business needs dictate.
Ensure environmental responsibilities are met and impacts are minimised during operations.
Requirements
Essential:
Minimum of 3 years’ offshore experience in a senior survey role.
Right to work in the EU and/or UK.
Demonstrated experience managing offshore teams and delivering high-quality survey results.
Proficiency with common survey software and tools (e.g. QPS, SonarWiz, Edgetech, Innomar, Kingdom).
Competency in Microsoft Office tools, including Teams.
Solid knowledge of geophysical survey techniques including pre-engineering, pre-lay, construction support, and as-built surveys.
Desired:
5+ years’ experience in a Party Chief position.
Relevant qualifications (e.g. IHO-certified, degree-qualified, or significant industry experience).
Experience with AUV/ROV-based surveys.
Previous involvement in offshore wind energy projects.
Additional Information
Candidates must have the legal right to work in the EU and/or UK.
Offshore day commitment can be flexible for the right candidate (e.g. 120, 150, or 180 days per year).
Some remote onshore work may be required from time to time in support of project planning or reporting.
