Location: UK Offshore & Onshore - You will need the right to work in the UK as this is Nearshore work
Contract Type: Offshore Contract (Up to 180 Days)
Reporting To: Hydrographic Survey Manager
Overview:
My client is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Hydrographic Surveyor to support their growing hydrography division. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking company working on technically challenging offshore and coastal projects.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a minimum of 120 days offshore per year. Any additional offshore days, up to a maximum of 180, will be compensated. Remaining days not completed offshore can be fulfilled through office-based or remote work, or by completing relevant training as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead technical hydrographic survey operations, including mobilisation, data acquisition, processing, and reporting.
Maintain and calibrate hydrographic equipment and sensors.
Ensure correct use of survey equipment and software; promptly report issues to technical leads.
Support vessel masters in upholding safety standards during operations.
Manage mobilisation/demobilisation processes, including equipment checks and data transfers.
Collaborate with internal teams and clients to address technical questions and requirements.
Assist the Hydrographic Survey Manager in delivering projects on time and within budget.
Contribute to the planning and execution of hydrographic strategies for current and upcoming projects.
Monitor and report on project milestones, risks, and technical challenges.
Day-to-Day Duties May Include:
Project administration, resource planning (personnel, equipment, vehicles), and client liaison.
Conducting equipment calibrations and verifications during vessel mobilisation.
Acquiring, processing, and QA of hydrographic survey data.
Attending client and site meetings as needed.
Maintaining project timelines and updates using tools like ASANA.
Identifying and addressing risks to project delivery.
Requirements:
Proven experience in hydrographic survey operations.
Proficient with industry-standard equipment and software including GNSS, MRU, Multibeam Echosounders, and Sidescan Sonars.
Strong communication skills, both internally within teams and externally with clients and stakeholders.
Ability to work offshore for extended periods and as part of a technical team.
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
Keeping up-to-date with advancements in hydrographic technologies and methods.
Assisting in business development and identifying new opportunities.
Supporting personnel development and internal training aligned with frameworks such as ICES or RICS.
Participating in client presentations and contributing to a strong team culture.
Reporting internally on compliance and technical issues where necessary.
